With a family of five, we do at least one load of laundry each day and often more. Each laundry load can range from small baby items to large, bulky things like comforters or quilts. It’s worth the investment in a long-lasting, high-quality dryer with multiple cycle options, making my daily tasks easier to accomplish.  The professionals handled installing the Samsung 7.4 Cu. Ft. Electric Dryer with Steam Sanitize+ and hauled away my old dryer. Shipping is free, but I had to pay a small fee to install and remove the old unit. My laundry room is on the second floor of my house. Spending just under $50 to avoid lugging a heavy new dryer up a flight of stairs and carrying a heavy, old dryer down the same stairs was well worth the cost for me. The install team also hooked up the dryer vent and started the machine to make sure that it was installed correctly. The Samsung 7.4 Cu. Ft. Electric Dryer with Steam Sanitize+ has 12 cycle options. The ones that I used the most frequently were the normal setting (for most clothes), the bedding setting (for heavy blankets and pillows), the activewear setting (for gym clothes), and the Steam Sanitize+ setting (for clothes that my kids wore to school). I also used the “wrinkle away” setting a few times. Many dryers come with a sensor to determine just how much time your clothes need to dry. The sensor dry on the Samsung 7.4 Cu. Ft. Electric Dryer with Steam Sanitize+ was reliable and resulted in dry clothes when used with any settings. Sensor dry saves time and energy spent on drying clothes. It also protects clothes from being overdried, which can lead to clothes shrinking or damage. Anything that prolongs my clothes’ life while keeping them in great shape is a welcome addition to my home. The feature that sets this dryer apart from other great performing models from Samsung and other brands is the Steam Sanitize+ option. According to Samsung’s testing, running a Steam Sanitize+ cycle kills 99.9% of germs and bacteria, 95% of pollen, and all dust mites. With three kids who attend school, anything that will get rid of the germs they bring home benefits us. Not all cycles use the sanitizing feature. Only Steam Sanitize+, refresh, and the “wrinkle away” settings use steam. Fortunately, they are marked on the dial, so it is easy to understand what you get from each cycle. A few dress shirts were too wrinkled to wear after a couple of days sitting at the bottom of the clean laundry pile. Instead of spending a lot of time ironing, I used the wrinkle away cycle. It uses steam to get rid of wrinkles, so I ran the shirts through the cycle for 20 minutes. They came out wrinkle-free. Many dryers advertise that their normal cycle will help eliminate wrinkles, but this was the first cycle that got my dress shirts wrinkle-free. Using steam accomplishes this similarly to how hanging wrinkled clothes in a steamy bathroom during a shower does it, but with less hassle. The display is on the top of the dryer, near the back. At 5 feet, 6 inches, I didn’t have any trouble reaching the dial to select the cycle or pressing any of the buttons to turn the dryer on, start the cycle, or adjust the settings. The lint trap is available at the bottom front of the dryer drum. You need to pull it entirely out of the dryer and lift a plastic piece off to fully access any built-up lint. Ensure that you click the plastic top back on before putting the lint trap back in the dryer, or it will not fully seat, and the dryer door will not close. The Samsung 7.4 Cu. Ft. Electric Dryer with Steam Sanitize+ is not a budget item. At $1199.00 (potentially more if you have it professionally installed), it has a top-of-the-line price to match its top-of-the-line features. Its high capacity and steam cycles are worth the cost; I do so much laundry. But if you are looking for a more economical option, Samsung has other options with fewer features that are well made. The lint filter sensor was another great indicator that I appreciated. I am in the habit of checking and cleaning the lint trap in between each use, but my husband often forgets. When it is full, the indicator lights up on the top of the dryer. This visual reminder helps keep the lint filter on the front of the dryer clear. A clean lint filter is more efficient and safer. There is a similar indicator light for the dryer vent. There is an optional rack on the bottom of the dryer that can be used for small or delicate items. I used it to dry my kids’ shoes. They were dried quickly without needing to be tumbled through the dryer, which is loud and can add wear on the shoes themselves. Make sure you use dryer-friendly shoes. Some shoes’ soles are not meant to be in the high heat of a dryer and can be damaged. Like the washer companion to the Samsung 7.4 Cu. Ft. Electric Dryer with Steam Sanitize+, this dryer has a slanted top. If you like to use the top of your washer and dryer to store items or fold clothes, it will be harder to do with this model. I prefer to keep the top of my washer clear, so it was not a detractor for me. The dryer’s front door can be attached on the left or right side to meet your preference or laundry room configuration. I kept it attached on the right side, the way that it comes when delivered. I appreciated having the option if I needed it. The door is sturdy and holds up to repeated opening and closing after doing multiple laundry loads weekly. When you close the door, you can hear an audible click as it latches. The color options for the Samsung 7.4 Cu. Ft. Electric Dryer with Steam Sanitize+ are black stainless steel, champagne, and white. I like the modern look of the black stainless, which hides fingerprints. The front door is glass, which will show fingerprints and smudges. It easily wipes off. It is convenient looking through the tinted glass, which outweighs any negatives from smudges. Having these color options available in a number of their washers and dryers makes it easy to pick the best features for your needs at a price point that works in your budget, while still maintaining a cohesive look. If you want to invest in a top-of-the-line dryer and save money on a more basic washer, Samsung makes it easy to do that.

How many cycle options does this dryer have?

The Samsung 7.4 Cu. Ft. Electric Dryer with Steam Sanitize+ has 12 cycle options: normal, heavy-duty, bedding, Steam Sanitize+, refresh, wrinkle away, delicates, permanent press, activewear, quick-dry, time dry, and air fluff. The steam settings include Steam Sanitize+, refresh, and wrinkle away. The cycles I used the most were normal, bedding, activewear, and Steam Sanitize+.

Can I fit bedding in this dryer?

I dried a queen-sized down comforter without any issues using the bedding cycle. I also dried pillows (separately) using the same setting. I added dryer balls when drying bulky items like comforters to keep them moving through the drying cycle. When drying fitted sheets, I prefer to run them separately. When I dried fitted sheets with smaller clothing items, the little items got stuck in the sheets’ corners and did not dry during the regular cycle.

What does the Steam Sanitize+ feature do?

The Steam Sanitize+ cycle uses steam to kill germs, pollen, and dust mites while your clothes dry. Hot steam is used at the beginning of the cycle. Let the cycle run to the end to completely dry your clothes, which may take a little longer due to the added steam. When you first begin the process, the machine will give you the approximate time. As the cycle runs, the sensor dry feature updates the total run time based on the clothes’ measured moisture level. I found these estimates to be pretty accurate when drying a mid-sized load. Other cycles that use steam include the refresh cycle (for odors) and the wrinkle away cycle (for wrinkles). You can also use any steam cycles to clean the dryer itself when you run an empty cycle.

Does the dryer come with a warranty?

The dryer has a one-year parts and labor warranty. Samsung also offers a 15-day return period after delivery or installation for a full refund.

Is this dryer stackable?

You cannot stack the Samsung 7.5 Cu. Ft. Electric Dryer with Steam Sanitize+ due to the control panel’s location at the back edge of the top of the machine. It has a front opening, but you need to access the control panel to operate the machine.

What washer should I use with this dryer?

You can use any washer with this dryer. If you are in the market for a matching set, Samsung makes a 5.0 Cu. Ft. Top Load Washer with Super Speed. When purchased as a set with the 7.5 Cu. Ft. Electric Dryer with Steam Sanitize+, you can save up to $500. If you want your washer and dryer to line up, look for a washer with the same height, 44.6 inches.

Samsung 7.4 Cu. Ft. Electric Dryer with Steam Sanitize+ vs. the Competition

With almost identical features, you can control the Samsung 7.5 Cu. Ft. Smart Electric Dryer with Steam Sanitize+ via a smartphone or home automation device.
