While closet organizers and closet kits are excellent solutions for tidying up clothes, a new set of hangers is a budget-friendly option that can make a big difference in your closet rehaul. So, what are the best hangers on the market? The IEOKE Premium Velvet Hangers boast heavy-duty construction and versatile, space-saving design. But how do they really perform? We tested a 50-pack of the IEOKE hangers to see if they live up to the packaging claims. Check out our findings.

Design: Simple yet multifaceted

The Premium Velvet Hangers from IEOKE have a simple appearance, and yet, they are versatile. Each hanger has a hook that rotates 360 degrees, a horizontal bottom bar, and rounded shoulders. The crescent configuration works well for all different clothing shapes without puckering or wrinkling the fabric at the shoulders. Measuring about a quarter of an inch in thickness, the IEOKE hangers are much thinner than most wood hangers. This slim design accommodates more clothing into a small closet. These are “cascade” hangers, which means there’s a place to hook an additional hanger. In this case, another hanger can be attached to the hole right underneath the metal hook. These hangers also have two curved hooks on each side of the bottom bar for garments with straps. Since the bottom bar isn’t extensive (about 10.5 inches), the only thing we had trouble hanging were some pants. Pairs with wider legs crease into the corners of the bar, requiring wrinkle removal with an iron or steamer. Overall, the design of the hangers is lightweight, functional, and aesthetically pleasing. We think they look more expensive than they are, especially with a complete set. We were pleasantly surprised by how much they enhanced the appearance of my closet.

Material: Functional velvet

These hangers have a chrome steel hook on top, bendable plastic shoulders and bottom bar, and a soft velvet coating over the plastic. Color options include black, brown, rose red, and beige. We tested a beige set. We noticed the velvet sheds a little bit when clothing items are hung and removed from the hangers. Most of our clothes are darkly colored. The black hangers may have been a better choice, as any velvet dust wouldn’t be visible. These hangers are not ideal for hanging wet clothes on a drying rack, which I often do. The velvet material is designed to grip clothing, but getting a wet shirt onto one of these hangers is a little more difficult. The manufacturer says they aren’t recommended for damp or wet garments. It’s not stated why this is, but it’s likely the velvet might deteriorate if it becomes damp.

Performance: Almost no complaints

As far as hangers go, these appear to be resilient. According to the manufacturer, most standard hangers weigh about 2.3 ounces, whereas the IEOKE hangers are closer to 2.8 ounces each. This added weight is supposed to contribute to their durability.  The manufacturer also says the hangers can hold up to 10 pounds of weight. Even though they’re lightweight, this solid construction made it easy to hang all types of garments, including my heaviest outerwear. Attaching three hangers with the cascade hooks, we were able to hang a few shirts at once while taking up very little horizontal space on my closet rod. The velvet grips various fabrics and prevents slipping. Wool and knit sweaters, cotton clothes, stretchy items, and silky garments stayed put on the hangers. We were able to hang shirts, dresses, pants, and coats of various weights. Thin straps were no problem, either. This is a major plus for us since our clothes tend to fall off their hangers––especially when we pack a lot of them close together!

Price: More than fair

Priced between $25 and $30 for a pack of 50, each hanger comes out to a little over 50 cents. This is an affordable price and definitely a great deal for a set of hangers. We doubt they’ll need to be replaced anytime soon.

Competition: Hanger sets aplenty

MIZGI Premium Velvet Hangers: Like the IEOKE hangers, the Premium Velvet Hangers from MIZGI retail between $20 and $25 for a set of 50. The manufacturer boasts heavy-duty construction without shoulder bumps and guarantees no creases on folded pants. Color options include pink, blush pink, fuschia pink, dark blue, dark purple, red, teal green, and white. TechZoo Premium Quality Velvet Hangers: TechZoo’s take on velvet hangers are priced between $20 and $30 for a 50-pack. Color options for the Premium Quality Velvet Hangers are black, blue, gray, and ivory. These hangers have a very straightforward design and don’t include strap hooks like the IEOKE and MIZGI sets. SUPJOO Premium Velvet Hangers: The 50-pack of SUPJOO Premium Velvet Hangers costs about $24. They have a notably thin profile and small grooves instead of hooks for strapped garments. These hangers have stylish rose gold swivel hooks and come in black, blush pink, gray, ivory, mint green, and white. We are pleased with the IEOKE Premium Velvet Hangers. The thin design and cascade hook allowed us to create more usable closet space. Not only were we able to hang all types of clothing, but the hangers also gave the closet an elegant look.
