If you have or are looking to purchase an artificial Christmas tree, you know it’s an investment. And to make sure your tree will last a long time, it’s essential to keep it in good shape during the time it’s not in use. There are several types of Christmas tree storage solutions that protect your trees from damage. We tried out the Best Choice Products Rolling Duffle Christmas Tree Storage Bag and tested its design, durability, performance, and capacity. Read on to see what we thought.

Design: Equipped with several extra features, but poorly executed

The Best Choice Products Rolling Duffle Christmas Tree Storage Bag boasts an attractive and high-quality look. It comes in two festive color options, which we adored: green and red. This bag comes equipped with two handles on top that can connect with the attached hook-and-loop fastener. The bag itself is made of a tear-resistant 600D polyester, which also works to protect the bag’s contents from dust, mildew, and rodents.  Additionally, this bag comes equipped with a few extra features including three roller wheels on one end and a handle on the other for easy maneuvering. It also has interior adjustable straps to keep the items inside from moving around. While these features are great in theory, they’re poorly executed.  We had problems with the adjustable straps because they did not tighten properly. We tried to pull them as tightly as we could to secure our artificial tree pieces in place, but they didn’t hold. This created an issue when we tried to move the bag using the roller wheels. As soon as we lifted the end of the bag to begin rolling it, all of the tree components fell towards the bottom of the bag since they weren’t securely strapped down. This made it nearly impossible to roll. And because of the weight of the bag, lifting by the two handles on top and moving to our storage closet wasn’t a realistic option.

Capacity: Holds trees up to 9 feet tall

Measuring 60 x 20 x 25.5 inches, this bag holds artificial Christmas trees up to 9 feet tall. We stored our 7.5-foot tree inside and had plenty of room for other decorations. We felt comfortable putting our holiday pillowcases, garland, and other unbreakables in this compartment. Putting anything delicate inside the main storage area, such as ornaments or glassware, runs the risk of getting damaged if the tree components shift when transferring the bag in and out of storage.  There is also a small storage compartment on the front of the bag, where you can slip other small holiday decorations or supplies such as greeting cards or ribbon.

Performance: Protects contents inside, but requires a lot of space

One thing we appreciated about this Best Choice Products storage bag is that it’s durable. The material feels strong enough to prevent anything from ripping through the bag. And from what we could tell, our belongings inside the bag seemed to be fully protected from any elements. A major downside is the amount of space this bag requires. We recommend before purchasing this item to measure out the intended storage space first to ensure that the bag will fit horizontally. Because the interior straps don’t function properly, all of the contents inside will fall to the bottom if stored vertically.  It’s also necessary to ensure the bag has plenty of room around it. Without a standing upright frame, there is less protection for the bag’s contents, and the bag will form to whatever is inside. Therefore, it’s pretty important to keep other items from leaning or collapsing onto the bag, as the contents inside could get easily damaged.

Price: Overpriced considering the performance

The Best Choice Products Rolling Duffle Christmas Tree Storage Bag is available for around $45 to $65, which is about the average price for tree storage bags. However, considering you’re paying for extra features that don’t work properly, such as the roller wheels and the interior straps, it’s really not much better than some of the cheaper storage bag options out there.

Best Choice Products Rolling Duffle Christmas Tree Storage Bag vs. Zober Christmas Tree Storage Bag

The Zober Christmas Tree Storage Bag is a more budget-friendly alternative we simultaneously tested. Retailing for about $15, this bag comes in two festive colors and can hold trees up to 7 feet tall. It definitely lacks style and class because of the plastic material, but it’s super durable and will protect your holiday decorations and artificial trees from dust, moisture, and pests.  The Zober bag does not have all of the bells and whistles that you’ll find in the Best Choice Products, such as roller wheels or interior adjustable straps. However, because those extra features don’t work properly, it really doesn’t matter that the Zober is lacking. In the end, you’re better off going with the less expensive product that functions just the same with a little less class.  Though the Best Choice Products Rolling Duffle Christmas Tree Storage Bag looks festive, durable, and of a high-quality makeup, it lacks functionality. The extras you’re paying for, such as the roller wheels and adjustable straps, don’t work as they should, making this bag not worth the price.
